I would like to see Vertu try again, as I really like the idea of technology that is designed to last a long time, because so much of our modern world seems to be based on technology that becomes obsolete after a surprisingly short period of time, such as smart-phones with their two-year upgrade cycle, which I think is an incredibly wasteful use of non-renewable raw materials and energy, and a non-trivial source of environmental waste and greenhouse gas emissions. 
My essay mainly explored how Vertu could possibly reinvent itself, if it was ever to be relaunched, by turning its 'instruments' into thin clients. I noted that Vertu's brand and underlying technologies had been retained by its last owner, Baferton, and that there was a very real possibility that Vertu could be reincarnated at some point in the future, like some fabulously-bejewelled phoenix rising from its ashes. I previously wrote about Vertu in my essay " Vertu: Could it rise again?". Vertu’s instruments were previously handcrafted at its factory in Church Crookham, Hampshire, United Kingdom from prestige materials, such as diamond, sapphire, ruby, stainless steel, titanium, gold, platinum, and the finest-hide leathers, before it ceased operation, in the middle of 2017. Vertu was a retailer of luxury handmade mobile-phones and smart-phones, which it referred to as “personal communication instruments”. It is assumed that this event will be the relaunch of Vertu. GSMArena reports ( here) that Chinese media have been invited by Vertu to an event scheduled for 5.30pm on 17th October 2018 in Beijing with the title of “Live or Die”.
